Campaign Update

By Jason Growe | Posted March 20, 2008 at 02:46 PM in

Dear Friends,

I hope this email finds you well.  I have been blessed so far this year.  My family is doing well, with my son Ben leaving his diaper days behind him and Sarah starting crawl.  The campaign continues to move forward.

We have focused much of our attention lately on a series of town hall meetings I have been hosting throughout the district.  Kicking off the series in January at the Clayton Center, family, friends, and other Clayton residents came out on a cold night to express their views on what is happening in Missouri.  I truly enjoyed listening to other people express their views on today’s issues.  In February, I hosted the next meeting at The Heights, Richmond Heights’ community center.  It was a spirited, yet positive discussion.  Participants came ready to discuss a wide range of issues, including the environment, health care, education, and property taxes, among others.  I must say that I learned a lot that evening and will bring those lessons with me to Jefferson City, helping me more accurately represent the views of district residents.  On March 26 at 7:00 pm, I will host the next town hall meeting in Maplewood at the Maya Café on 2726 Sutton Blvd.  I invite everyone, no matter where you live, to come out, enjoy some free food, and express your views on our state.  I want to hear from everyone!

Campaign supporters are starting to have neighborhood coffees, too.  Again, these events are designed for me to meet district residents and hear their views and concerns.  For a list of coffees coming up, please visit our campaign calendar on the website.  If you know of an event in your neighborhood I should attend, or want to host something yourself, please email Jason Growe at , or call the office at (314) 725-4866.  I want to reach as many people as possible!

I am also pleased to report that the endorsements keep coming.  Since my last email we have added two major endorsements.  First, the Professional Firefighters of Eastern Missouri I.A.F.F. Local 2665 endorsed me in January.  The firefighters are the first labor union to endorse a candidate in this race and I am honored to receive their support.  Second, the Mayor of Maplewood, Mark Langston, recently endorsed me.  Mayor Langston made another “first” endorsement, being the first Mayor within the district to endorse a candidate in this race.  Receiving the support of a local mayor will help me represent the district in Jefferson City by working with other elected officials for the benefit of the 73rd legislative district.

Finally, our campaign office is in full swing.  We are continuing to add more staff that will deliver the campaign’s progressive message.  As we get closer to election day, our grassroots effort continues to pick up steam.  I am thankful for the firefighters and their canvassing effort.  I look forward to building the campaign’s volunteer base as we move forward.  If you are up for joining the campaign as a volunteer, click here.  A strong volunteer base will be a cornerstone of this campaign over the summer months.  We would love to have your help!

I look forward to seeing you out on the campaign trail.  Please keep in touch.

Best Wishes,

Steve Brown
