What’s Your Best Telemarketer Story?

By Jason Growe | Posted June 24, 2008 at 11:07 AM in

Steve Brown taught telemarketers in Missouri a valuable lesson: when we pass a law to stop you from bothering us, we mean it.

As Deputy Chief Counsel for Attorney General Jay Nixon, Brown served as lead prosecutor of the “No-Call Attack Team.” He tracked down violators of Missouri’s No-Call List, and held them accountable for breaking the law.

In fact, Steve was so effective at prosecuting lawbreakers that many telemarketing companies won’t call in Missouri anymore.

Everyone has a great line they’ve used when a telemarketer bothers them - or at least somethiing they wished they had said after they hung up the phone.

So we thought we would have a little contest, just for fun.  In the comments section of this blog entry, post the best and funniest things you have said, heard someone else say or just wish you had said to get a telemarketer off of the phone.

The best responses will get a special prize from our campaign and be highlighted on the website.

I don’t really encounter telemarketers anymore.  I guess we have Steve to thank for that.  So… thanks, Steve!  You can count on my vote.

My best response to a telemarketer when he asked if I needed storm windows, I said I didn’t have windows in my house.  He started laughing.  When he was done, I told him I didn’t live there, and he laughed some more.
